Amber Sky – modernity and history
Amber Sky is an impressive observation wheel that has become one of the symbols of modern Gdańsk since its opening in 2014. The structure stands 50 meters high and offers 36 spacious, air-conditioned gondolas, each accommodating up to eight people. One of the gondolas is adapted for people with disabilities, making Amber Sky an attraction accessible to everyone.
Amber Sky allows you to admire the panorama of Gdańsk from a completely new perspective. From above, you can see the historic city center, the Motława River, Długie Pobrzeże, and numerous monuments that attract tourists from all over the world.
The history and locations of Amber Sky
Amber Sky is an attraction that has changed its location over the years, adapting to the dynamic development of the city and its tourist spaces.
Early years on Spichrzów Island
Initially, Amber Sky was located in Targ Węglowy in the summer of 2023. It was possible to enjoy the attraction, but for a very short time. The observation wheel officially debuted in 2014 on Spichrzów Island. This location quickly became popular among residents and tourists who flocked to the wheel to admire the views of Długie Pobrzeże and the panorama of the historic Main City.
Relocation to Ołowianka Island
Several years later, Amber Sky was moved to Ołowianka Island, where it remains to this day. This location, situated right next to the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, turned out to be an even better place on the map of Gdańsk. As a result, the observation wheel found itself in the heart of one of the city's most tourist-attractive areas, surrounded by monuments and significant cultural sites.
The change of location brought Amber Sky new opportunities. Its position on Ołowianka Island allows for a better view of the Motława River, the Baltic Philharmonic, as well as the historic Długie Pobrzeże and The Crane. This picturesque scenery makes each ride on the wheel an unforgettable experience.
